Here is Emily’s message:

Hello,

My name is Emily Hardee and I am the Committee Chair for Run Today for Tomorrow, a 5K walk/run to fight the horror of suicide. I started the event in 2019 in memory of my cousin Molly Yacko who we lost to suicide on June 29, 2018.

The tribute to Molly also helps to raise money to support a new Scholarship and to provide grant money to help mental health organizations do their best work. Since we created the event, we’ve had over 1,000 registrants and have raised over $85,000 for Mental Health resources. After seeing the number of people in our community who have been impacted by suicide and negative mental health concerns, especially during the pandemic, I knew this needed to be an annual event to help bring hope to those struggling and to let the community know that we believe in a Tomorrow where everyone is here to see it. Because of people like you who care, we have been able to widely distribute materials about the availability of both local and national resources to contact for help, hope and safe places for others to share their stories.

I am asking you for your help!

With your help, we will continue to make a positive impact on the availability of quality mental health resources in our community.

THANK YOU!

Can’t participate? Spend the morning exploring the vital mental health resources in our community.

All proceeds remain in Starved Rock Country to support our individuals and families experiencing issues arising from mental health concerns.

Run Today for Tomorrow raises a generous amount of money each year thanks to participants, sponsors, and supporters of the cause. Through a partnership with the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation, we created the Molly Lenora Yacko Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Run Today for Tomorrow Field of Interest Fund to keep all of the race proceeds in our local community. We want to target initiatives that aid in suicide prevention by making grants from the Fund to local mental health providers working with community members in need of mental health assistance.
