The Village of Dana Police Department recently received $1,500 for police body cameras from the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation. The community grant allows Dana PD to comply with a Jan. 1, 2025, state mandate requiring that police carry body cams on any police matter including traffic stops, ordinance violations or interviews.

“It is a challenge for our small department and small village (population 175) to stay in compliance. Our financial resources are so limited,” said longtime Dana Village President Joseph Centeno.

“These mandates strain our budget, so we are grateful to SRCCF for this award. Starved Rock Country Community Foundation was a godsend.”
