The creation of the fund is a key part of the Society’s strategic planning and will allow it to continue the path charted for it by its founding members over 30 years ago.
“By working with the outstanding people at SRCCF, the Mendota Historical Society is well placed to continue making strides toward fulfilling our mission to preserve and share the history of Mendota for the next 30 years and beyond,” said Alex Revzan, MHS Executive Director. Beginning in February, the Mendota Historical Society is embarking on a two-year fundraising effort to build the lifetime endowment. The Society’s Board of Directors has set an ambitious goal of raising $1 million. “From now until February of 2026, MHS looks forward to engaging with diverse members of the Mendota community to generate the support needed to make this campaign a success,” said Revzan.
SRCCF President and CEO Fran Brolley is confident the campaign will succeed. “The Mendota Historical Society has already made a significant investment in the endowment.” Brolley said. “And they have outstanding leadership in Alex and Bryon and a great number of Society members committed to preserving and showcasing Mendota’s history. When you tour the Union Depot Railroad Museum, Hume-Carnegie Museum and Breaking the Prairie Museum, you can see the loving care the Society has devoted to Mendota’s remarkable 150-year history. Our foundation is privileged to work with MHS to ensure the museums are perpetually maintained and enhanced for generations.”
