Funding for this Scholarship is provided by your generous donations and the proceeds of the annual Run Today for Tomorrow event.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Every year, consider participating. Please visit Run Today for Tomorrow Online Donations (runsignup.com) to participate, sponsor or donate.
  • Every day, consider a donation. Proceeds will go toward making a positive impact on mental health resources. Grants are made to local mental health organizations AND the Molly Lenora Yacko Memorial Scholarship is awarded to assist college students pursuing a career in the mental health field.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Resident of LaSalle County, Illinois
  • Must be a student currently enrolled as a junior or senior in a four-year college or university degree program for the following academic year in pursuit of a degree in the mental health field of study.
  • Has demonstrated the following attributes:
  • Positive attitude; encourages others; charitable
  • Hard working; compassionate; high moral character
  • Role model to underclassman

Applicant must respond to essay questions addressing why he/she wants to work in the field of mental health, and what makes him/her a good “fit” for such a career? What are the current plans for employment and a dedicated career in mental health services?

Applicant must include two (2) letters of recommendation from current educators or employers who can attest to the applicant’s ability to succeed in a mental health career.

2024 Recipient

The $1000 Molly Lenora Yacko Memorial Scholarship goes to Chesney Auter of Ottawa. Chesney will attend Ball State University and major in Sports Psychology. In her essay, Chesney sights an increasing need for mental health services for sports-oriented students. Chesney’s eventual goal is to work with Special Olympians. Her mother, Courtney Krug, and Grandmother Shirley Thompson are here to support Chesney this evening.
